15. 1 pair
Attempts in all boxes except 1 paired Peterson.
4 nest attempts in 4 boxes. 18 eggs, 1 of which did not hatch, 17 bluebirds fledged. One nest taken over by HOWR, looks like pair moved to a different box. Looks like only one pair had two broods. First egg: Unknown
12 nest attempts in 12 boxes. 1 failed nesting. 6 dead chicks in two boxes (both NABS style) - boxes B & G. Both of these boxes had deaths last year also. Last year there were deaths in 4 boxes.
52 TRES eggs. 47 hatched, 37 fledged.
0
HOWR attempts in 3 boxes - one had three nestlings.
2/4: Went to check boxes, a few were open, lots of wasp nests and HOWR dummy nests to clean out. Saw 2-7 EABLs, one male followed me around. 4 HOWR dummy nests. Lots of jumping spiders.
3/11: no nesting activity. Saw 6, possibly 7 bluebirds.
3/25: No bluebirds in sight, not a blade of grass in boxes
4/9: Two bluebird nests, possibly 3. Only saw one male EABL. Lots of TRES
5/6: three bluebird nests, two with babies, one abandoned no eggs. LOTS of paperwasps.
Checked 5/26, 6/2
6/18: Very hot, grass long. Babies all different sizes. No dead babies. No eggs removed.
11/6: 1 male EABL. All boxes fixed. Some paper wasps. Installed 3 new boxes - Novabird, NABS by asphalt reclamation area and one back to back NABS by A.
Checking on a bluebird trail is like opening one Christmas present after another.
Each box has a surprise inside.
