Webcam photo by Leor Amikam of John’s Creek, Georgia. He posts about his webcam on his Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/bluebirdsGA

Leor is using a Webcam – specifically a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920, which requires a USB connection. The cam is mounted on the inside roof, and the box is mounted on the side of his house.

Titmice are more likely to abandon a nest if disturbed during nestbuilding and before egg laying, so a nestcam is a good way to monitor activities.

You cannot begin to preserve any species of animal unless you preserve the habitat in which it dwells. Disturb or destroy that habitat and you will exterminate the species as surely as if you had shot it. So conservation means that you have to preserve forest and grassland, river and lake, even the sea itself. This is vital not only for the preservation of animal life generally, but for the future existence of man himself—a point that seems to escape many people.
